NYSFOLA Members Move Invasive Species Transport Law

Environmental groups from across the state, including several in the Adirondacks, called to thank NYSFOLA for our efforts to get the NYS Invasive Species Transport law renewed and made permanent before the NYS legislature adjourned. We did it!

Our letter on behalf of lakes across the state, combined with your phone calls and letters moved the bill and led to its approval in both chambers.

The law has new provisions for additional protections for the Adirondack Park and calls for enhanced public education campaigns to spread the word about “Clean, Drain, Dry” efforts to prevent the spread of aquatic invasive species from recreational boating.

The bill awaits Governor Cuomo’s signature.
